Day 6 Without Power

I have to admit, I am not in the best of moods right now. Not having electricity is getting the best of me and I am starting to feel like we will never get it back! This 10 minute wind storm has apparently caused more havoc on the power company than most hurricanes do in other states. (Insert eye roll here) Since this is day 6, I am having a pity party and these are 6 things I am tired of:
  • I'm tired of not being able to cook for real in my kitchen. (I never thought I would say this, but it's true)
  • I'm tired of taking cold showers every night, even though they do feel good when your house is 90 degrees.
  • I'm tired of hearing the generator run.
  • I'm tired of getting ready in the mornings with a flashlight in the bathroom.
  • I'm tired of flipping light switches out of habit and nothing happening.
  • I'm tired of coming home and hitting the garage door opener and nothing happening.
But I have to admit there are 6 things I have enjoyed and are grateful for too:

  • I love having the boys in our room at night, seeing them cuddled up, sleeping peacefully is very comforting.
  • I have enjoyed spending time with Wes at the "puzzle table" and the conversations we have had while working the puzzles.
(this thing was SO hard!)
(we now have his and hers puzzles! mine has candy on it, his has deer on it, fitting huh?)
  • I'm grateful we have the generator and have been able to keep our fridge and freezer going, and especially the window AC in our bedroom.
  • I'm grateful we still have water without power.
  • I'm grateful the boys are pretty unaffected by it all and seem to be having a blast.
  • I'm grateful for the time we have spent together as a family, uninterrupted by TV, video games, etc. and really going to make an effort for it to happen more often, willingly.
We are now supposed to have power back by tomorrow. I'm not counting my chickens.
